Pencil In the Obvious by Amanda Auchter
Draw me a doorway
one brass knob, one keyhole
that never locks
with you on one side
(which side?)
Knock & I will find you.
Draw me a seduction
fingers bloom into
champagne bottles,
popped cork,
rim of glass,
lipstick stain.
Draw me an hour
a clock that never lies,
red silent couch, nervous shoe.
Pencil in the obvious metaphors:
blurred vision, puckered mouth,
hand waving goodbye.
Draw me a diagram of us
the approximate location
of our bodies, a red X to dig for
the landmine of our voices.
